How can I get a copy of a journal article when I have the citation or DOI?
1. Use Article Citation Search to determine whether WSU has online access to the article.
Enter the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or citation information (author, article title, journal title, journal volume/issue …) into Article Citation Search and click “Look Up” to find WSU holdings of an article.
2. If the Article Citation Search results show that WSU has online access to the journal, use Article Citation Search to access the article directly (preferred) or indirectly (through the journal page).
If WSU has online access to the article, click on the word “Article” on the Article Citation Search results page, and look for a link to the full-text on the article page.
If the word “Article” is absent, try clicking on the word “Journal”, browse the journal page for the correct volume and issue, and locate the article by author/title within the journal issue.
3. If the Article Citation Search results show that WSU has no online access to the journal, submit an Inter-Library Loan (ILL) request for a digital copy of the article.
On the Article Linker results page, click on the link “Request Digital Delivery of Article…” which takes you to the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) page. Provide your WSU AccessID and password, enter and/or verify the citation information in the form, and submit your request for the article.
ILL requests are generally fulfilled in 24-48 hours via email to your WSU email address.
