To begin research on policies it is a good first step to start by reading up on the topic. Think about what group or issue you are researching such as the homeless, veterans, domestic violence. Then identify some books in the library catalog on that topic. By reading up on the group or issue you will read about which policies have been enacted that play a large role in services or treatment of the issue. You will have also identified your first sources of information for your paper.

This is a link to the catalog. Try a search such as Veterans and Policy as keywords.

Other good starting places include the Gale Virtual Reference Library for background information.

The Proquest Research Library is a good database to find both scholarly articles and newspaper articles on policies and issues.

Many of these links are also available on the guide for the subject of Social Work under the tab "Social Work Policy Resources."
