KANOPY ON MOBILE DEVICE

  1. To use Kanopy on your mobile device, you'll need to download an app

  1. Look for the Kanopy app in your app store. These screenshots are for iOs, but should be similar for other operating systems.

  1.

  1. Once you download the app, click on "Get Started"

  1.

  1. Then, choose "Find University" on the following page and search for Wayne State.

  1.

  1. Select Wayne State from the options that appear. Then, you'll create your account. Once you enter your account details, you'll be prompted to log in with your access ID and password. Be sure to use your Wayne State credentials so you're hooking into our university subscription.

  1. Sometimes, the film will not play if you are not connected to WiFi. Be sure you are in a space where you can connect to WiFi if you are using a mobile device.

Other troubleshooting tips:

  • Be sure your app is up to date

  • If you also use Kanopy through your public library, you will also need to add your Wayne State account as different subscriptions have different content.

  • You can do this by clicking on your profile, then clicking on "My libraries" followed by "add library"

KANOPY ON BROWSER

  • If your instructor has assigned a film in Kanopy, be sure you're accessing Kanopy from the Wayne State Library homepage.

  • Here's the direct link to Kanopy.

  • Logging in this way will ensure that you are prompted to log in with your access ID and password if you are on campus. This is the best way to access Kanopy if you are having issues from your Canvas link.

  • If you're having trouble, try a different browser. Kanopy sometimes doesn't work on Chrome.

  • Still not working? Clear your cache. CTRL + shift + delete on PC or Shift + Command + G on Mac

There is also a PDF of these instructions linked on the streaming media research guide under the Kanopy tab.

For instructors: There is a Kanopy Troubleshooting module in Canvas Commons with this exact information if you want to upload  it into your course for students. They can enter Commons through their Canvas account and search "wsuinst" or "kanopy troubleshooting" in the search bar to find the module.
