  • Why is this change happening?
    • In 2025, Clarivate (the parent company of ProQuest) announced significant changes to its eBook purchasing model across the Ebook Central platform. These changes include the end of Demand-Driven Acquisition (DDA) and other single-title perpetual purchase options, with a shift toward subscription-based eBook access models for academic libraries.

  • Wayne State University Libraries transition timeline
    • While ProQuest will officially end its DDA program on June 30, 2026, WSULS will discontinue ProQuest DDA services on May 29, 2026, as part of our planned migration to EBSCO’s DDA program.
    • After May 29, 2026, no new purchases will be made through ProQuest services, including DDA titles and non-DDA eBooks purchased through GOBI.
  • Will I still have access to ProQuest Academic Complete?
    • Yes, our Academic Complete collection contains 240,000 titles.
  • What happens to the ProQuest eBooks that have already been purchased?
    • The 10,000+ eBooks already purchased will continue to be available to our users on the eBook LibCentral platform. Any titles purchased before May 29, 2026 will retain perpetual access through eBook Central going forward.
  • What happens to the ProQuest permalinks I currently have in Canvas or on LibGuides?
    • All permalinks will remain the same and will not change.
  • How many users can access the EBSCO DDA eBooks at one time?
    • Our default option will be 1 user.  We can add additional users upon request
  • What is the scope of the EBSCO DDA titles?
    • Our current ProQuest DDA titles (60,000+) will be made available on the EBSCO DDA platform with no significant changes to the title scope.
